True Value Hardware has them for $4.88. That may be a 1-pack instead of a 2-pack, but that's still only $9.76 instead of what Amazon is charging. Customer Rating: Summary: ProTec PC-1 Humidifier Cleaning Cartridge Comment: Noticed that when we began using this cartridge the filter did not need cleaning as often. Appears to be working very well - does what it says it does. Customer Rating: Summary: Preventing fungus Comment: I was told this works. It is hard to tell. It is easy to use. Customer Rating: Summary: Pro-Tec cleaning cartridge Comment: It is very expensive and I am not sure this really cleans the tank any better then you could do with just washing the tank out yourself once or twice a month. Customer Rating: Summary: Buy Elsewhere for under $5. Comment: These are good if you don't want to add 1/8 tsp. bleach every few fill-ups. However, who would buy this item when the exact same product is available from KAZ or Pro-Tech, and on Amazon for about FIVE DOLLARS for a twin-pack.

No new fridge or fridge/freezer should contain CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) or HFCs (hydroflourocarbons), which have been linked to the "Greenhouse Effect". However your old fridge may contain them, so please dispose of it thoughtfully. Your local authority should be able to give you some advice and guidelines.
